History and nature at Fattoria La Striscia

Fattoria La Striscia is surrounded by 700 hectares of unspoilt nature and welcomes its guests in a fascinating setting, where woods and Mediterranean scrub alternate with olive groves, vineyards and wheat and spelt fields. It is possible to stay in different accommodation solutions. Just a few hundred metres from the Villa della Striscia, built shortly after 1600 by the Sienese Malevolti (or Malavolti) family, with a small chapel beside it, are the two flats that share use of a swimming pool with a breathtaking view of Volterra.

The flats on the farm

The Ginestra can accommodate up to six people, and the spacious living room offers a fully equipped open kitchen whose typical Tuscan style is emphasised by a large fireplace. The sleeping area consists of three double rooms with single beds, one of which has an en suite bathroom. The other two bathrooms complete the 120 sqm flat, which opens onto a private terrace. The 110 sqm Lavanda also accommodates up to six persons, and has two bathrooms. The comfortable living room leads to a large dining room with a bright, fully equipped kitchen, exposed beams and a large fireplace. The sleeping area consists of three double rooms with single beds, one of which has an en suite bathroom. A terraced outdoor area is available to guests. A dirt road then leads to the two farmhouses, renovated and furnished with great attention to detail, each of which has a private panoramic swimming pool.

The Casali della Fattoria

The Casale Linchiano forms a single living solution with the adjacent medieval tower. The two structures are located in an extraordinarily beautiful position and can accommodate a total of up to 14 people. The 12th-century tower, 95 square metres on five levels, was inhabited by the cartographer Paolo Toscanelli dal Pozzo, who exerted a decisive influence on Christopher Columbus’ decision to set out in search of the East Indies by sailing west. The Casale Belvedere, 240 square metres on two floors, on the other hand, accommodates up to eight people, and offers a marvellous view that sweeps from the valley of the Cecina mountains to the Lardarello soffioni and the Chianti hills. The entrance, where a stone inscription testifies to the ancient origins of the building, dating back to the end of the 16th century, leads on one side to a large, bright and fully equipped kitchen with adjoining dining room, and on the other to a double bedroom with en suite bathroom. On the first floor are two living areas with a large fireplace, a double bedroom, two twin bedrooms and two bathrooms.
