From Ilaria, the local friend everyone wants

Agriturismo Renai e Monte opened its doors in 1992, but the farm’s history goes back nearly a century. The events follow hand in hand with those of four generations of Baragli, the family that at the gates of Gambassi Terme has always cultivated olive groves and vineyards.

They are farmers at heart who still live by rural rituals of sharing and helping each other. The pruning of olive trees, for example, is still done with the help of neighbors, networking energies because beyond all contemporary myths, the countryside is still hard work.

“Big shoes and fine brains,” says an Italian proverb, and the Baragli family has the merit of having cultivated not only the land but also a far-sighted idea: open house, become hosts. Today, the idea that was Ritano Baragli’s is made concrete every day by Ilaria – the youngest of his daughters – who for the past few years has been looking after the house and the tourists with an enthusiasm that is typical of young people at the start of a new adventure.

Ilaria is not only a caring hostess, but she is the local friend everyone wants: she dispenses advice, plans and goes the extra mile for each of her guests. Helping her is her mother Loriana, the classic mom – and agrichef – who teaches you how to roll out dough and bakes cakes for breakfast. Among her many commitments in the fields, you will happen to find her in the garden tending her flowers.

A relaxed atmosphere can be found at Renai and Monte. The property’s two houses are nestled on the family estate, in a family-friendly island of peace.

In this wonderful place it is possible to recapture time, to live idly, to pamper oneself, to quietly enjoy one’s children, to leave them outdoors, to rediscover the beauty of doing nothing or to rest before discovering what the surroundings can give: culture, nature, good food and good wine.
