Did you know that Gambassi Terme is one of Italy’s green gems? This year, it has been awarded the Spighe Verdi (Green Spikes) certification, a recognition for municipalities that adopt “best practices” for land management, commit to sustainability, and enhance rural heritage.. Launched in 2015 through the collaboration between FEE Italia and Confagricoltura, this program helps rural, mountainous, and inland municipalities enhance their natural, cultural, and agricultural heritage. Through specific criteria, sustainable actions that contribute to improving the quality of life for local communities are rewarded. A Major Success for Tuscany at the 2024 Green Spikes Ceremony
The Green Spikes 2024 ceremony, held in Rome on July 25, was a great success for Tuscany: 8 municipalities from our region were among the 75 national winners. Gambassi Terme, along with Bibbona, Castellina in Chianti, Castiglione della Pescaia, Castagneto Carducci, Grosseto, Massa Marittima, and Orbetello, stood out for the numerous initiatives undertaken to protect the environment, promote sustainable agriculture, and preserve local traditions.

A Success Rewarding Collective Effort

This recognition is the result of consistent and passionate work, by the municipal administration and the citizens of our town. Thanks to this collective effort, excellent results have been achieved in terms of land preservation, promotion of renewable energy, enhancement of local products, and development of sustainable tourism.

A Greener Future Ahead

The Green Spikes award is an incentive to continue striving for excellence and to move forward determinedly on the path of sustainability.
The Gambassi Terme municipal administration is committed to increasingly involving the local community, agricultural businesses, and associations to build an even more sustainable future.

What Does It Mean to Be a Green Spikes Municipality?

  • Environmental Protection: Enhancement of natural resources, promotion of renewable energy, and reduction of environmental impact.
  • Sustainable Development: Promotion of organic and quality agriculture, enhancement of local products, and development of sustainable tourism.
  • Community Participation: Active involvement of citizens in decisions concerning the territory, and promotion of a sustainability culture.

Exploring our territory through rural tourism is a unique opportunity, not just for visitors but also for the local economy. As Claudio Mazza, president of FEE Italia, pointed out, this type of tourism is a valuable resource, capable of enhancing agricultural production, craftsmanship, ancient traditions, and the natural beauty of small villages.
